Shepherds Cottage B & B

Surrounded by open countryside but only half a mile from the old village of Ickleton,    Shepherds Cottage was previously a pair of farm cottages.  It is now a quiet comfortable family home with a pretty garden and off road parking.  We are close to many beautiful and historic locations including the City of Cambridge, and the richly endowed mediaeval wool towns of Saffron Walden, Clare, Thaxted and Long Melford.  London is only 40 miles, whilst the Imperial war museum flying collection and US Airforce museum at Duxford is a mere 2 miles away.  There is easy access to the M11 at either junctions 9 or 10.

 

Accomodation

We offer a double bedroom, with TV,  coffee / tea tray and a private bathroom.  There is also a small double room available. We offer either continental or full English breakfast. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from locally for an evening meal.  No Smoking please.

How to find us ...

From M11, travelling north, exit at junction 9, first onto the A11 for Newmarket and Norwich, then after 1 mile, exit again for A1301 to Cambridge.  At roundabout at bottom of slip road, take first exit (A1301 to Cambridge).  Go straight on at next little roundabout ignoring entrance to Hinxton Hall.  After half a mile turn left to Hinxton and Ickleton.  Pass entrance to Hinxton, continue over level crossing and into Ickleton.  Keep going until you pass the church and the shop (on your right), and turn right at T junction.  Follow Abbey Street to end of the village * where the road bends right to Duxford, but you must go straight ahead into Grange Road (signpost says Elmdon).  Leave the village, pass over motorway bridge and our house is straight ahead.  Take right fork to find the gate.
From Saffron Walden, leave the town on B184.  Take first left into Littlebury.  At T junction in Littlebury turn right onto B1383.  At Great Chesterford, turn left on the bend to Ickleton.  Pass under low rail bridge and motorway  bridge.  Follow road through Ickleton (including left angle bend) until at the end of the village * (continue as above).
From M11, travelling south.  Exit at junction 10 onto A505 to Saffron Walden etc.  Take first right to Duxford and Ickleton.  In Duxford bear right (ie straight on) at junction. Continue 2 miles to Ickleton.  Take first right turn on entering the village into Grange Road.  Pass over motorway bridge and our house is straight ahead.  Take right fork to find the gate.
